Fashola meets AIG Mbu on security in Lagos

Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State, yesterday, formally held a meeting with the newly deployed Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG, to Zone 2, Mr. Joseph Mbu apparently over security issues.

The meeting which was held at the Lagos House, Alausa, Ikeja for several hours was held behind closed doors.

According to sources, the governor and the police boss deliberated on matters bordering on the security of property and lives of residents, particularly before, during and after the coming general elections.

After the meeting, efforts to speak with the police boss on the outcome of the meeting was unsuccessful as he was led into his vehicle by stern looking police aides.

Mbu, by the virtue of his present position, is a member of the state security council that meets every Wednesday of the week at the Lagos House, Marina.

He was deployed as AIG from the Police Command’s Zone 7 in Abuja to Zone 2, Lagos. Several months ago, he was similarly moved to Abuja from Rivers State, where he was at the centre of the political controversy there.

Earlier, Fashola sworn in the newly appointed Auditor-General for Local Government Office, Mr. Olatunji Jimoh at the same venue charging him to perform his duty with all sense of commitment to duty and discharge his duties professionally.

Jimoh was administered with the Oath of Office by the Director, Legislative Drafting, Ministry of Justice, Mrs. Tola Akinsanya

The newly sworn in AG succeeds the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate in Lagos, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode.
