Wednesday: Sweet Time With Jesus

THE POWER OF COMMITMENT IN MARRIAGE

Proverbs 11:17
The merciful man doeth good to his own soul; but he that is cruel troubleth his own flesh

Beloved, commitment is one of the keys that brings success in marriage. To ignore commitment in marriage is to ignore the power that keeps your marriage strong. commitment has to do with remaining steadfast to one’s mission. If you must succeed in your marriage, you must make a deliberate decision to remain committed to it. Any person that does not apply the key of commitment will not enjoy lasting victory in marriage. That shall not be your marriage in Jesus name.

It takes commitment to be loving, forgiving, understanding and merciful in marriage. In our text today, the bible says “The merciful man doeth good to his own soul...” when you invest commitment to your marriage, you will attract God’s blessing, favour and enlargement to your home. God always rewards a merciful man with much grace and favour. You can’t be committed to your marriage and suffer marital failure. Believe God to succeed in your marriage.

Let us consider some things that hinder true commitment:

- Self –will is disobedience and rebellion against God’s word: “for rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry”(1 samuel 15:23). Do not argue over God’s word and commands. Just trust and obey Him. Do your part in faith.

- Refusing to forgive and letting go past faults and offences: It takes a heart that is willing to work out a better future to forgive and let go the past.

- Resisting and rejecting godly counsel to make require changes: “... Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams”. (1 Samuel 15:22). Those who lifestyle changes for a better marriage are not truly committed to their marriage. Where there is commitment, there will be true and lasting changes.

Beloved, rise up and be committed to your marriage. It will keep your marriage standing, enjoyable and fruitful.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for Your word. I receive grace to be committed to my marriage in Jesus
name .......

Amen !!!
