Beware of a wrong Foundation
Psalm 11:3if the foundation be destroyed what can the righteous do ?
Foundation can be defined as that upon which anything is founded; that on which anything stands, and by which it is supported, it is also the lowest supporting layer of any super structure. Every building you see is only as strong as its foundation. If the foundation is faulty , the building will be declared uninhabitable. The same applies to marriage. When marriage is founded on a wrong foundation, it is bound to fail. Our text today lets us know that it is possible for a righteous person to enter marriage on a wrong foundation.
Wrong foundation is a major reason why some marriages are faulty. To hurry into marriage without taking care of your foundation is to end up in marital frustration.
Let’s see some foundations that must be handled properly for marital success :
- Foundation of ethnicity: People limit themselves to only people from their ethnic group. Either because their parents emphasized it or just personal hatred or bias against other ethnic groups. If such people end up marrying outside their ethnic group, they become biased and hateful towards their in-laws.
- Foundation of financial status: In this case a wealthy financial status and affluence is considered before marriage. This is where people make statements like “The person I will marry must have a big house, drive a big car, have lots of money in his/her account etc. Such marriages don’t last. It fails the day the money stop flowing. Total disregard for financial preparedness is also wrong.
- Foundation of outward appearance: Here, people consider complexion, good looks, perfect diction etc. To such people, the person’s character or spirituality does not matter as long as he/she has good looks. To focus only on good looks is to gamble with your marital destiny. A person who looks like an angel outside can be a devil on the inside. Receive the help of God for godly marriage in Jesus name.
Prayer: Lord, Thank You For Your Word, Every wrong foundation in marital destiny is corrected in Jesus name.....
Amen
