For the fourth year in a row, Ivorian professional footballer Gnégnéri Yaya Touréhas won the award for ‘African Footballer of the Year’ at the 2014 edition of the prestigiousGLO-CAF Awards.
The Manchester City FC midfielder ousted the likes of Gabon striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Nigerian goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama (who came in second and third respectively) to win the coveted prize which held at a prestigious event on Thursday, January 8, 2014 in Lagos Nigeria.
On winning the award, Touré expressed himself as being very happy and went on to commend Enyeama and Aubemayang.
Touré, 31, has now matched Cameroonian striker, Samuel Etoó’s record who has also won the award four times (2003, 2004, 2005, 2010).
