The Flame of True Love
Songs of Solomon 8:6-7set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for love is strong as death; jealousy is cruel as the grave: the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath a most vehement flame. Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it: if a man would give all the substance of his house for love, it would utterly be contemned.
Only God can show us the complete picture of true love. The bibles tells us that God is love. Our text today is a revelation on the flame of true love. Let us note the following points:
- True love is like a burning flame of fire. It is hot, strong and persistent. It cannot be hidden; it will always show. It can be felt. If your spouse cannot feel your love, there is something wrong. Make it a goal to show your spouse burning love.
- True love is meant to burn increasingly hotter and brighter. The bible tells us, it should burn with a most vehement flame. The love in your marriage should burn increasingly stronger and brighter. Time is no excuse to allow your love die. Fire always has the tendency to burn out, unless it is deliberately fueled and sustained. Don’t let your love flame burn out.
- Many things will try to attack the flame of true love. Beware of love quenchers- anger, unforgiveness, isolation, withdrawal, busy schedule, strange friends, abusive words, disrespect, gossip etc. many waters will try to quench your love. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
- The flame of true love cannot be quenched. Many waters cannot quench love. No matter how dull and dry your heart may feel, God cannot lie. He says that the flame of love is still burning inside you somewhere. Do not say, “I don’t love him/her again”. Humble yourself so God can show you mercy. Ask god to revive your flame of love. Love cannot be quenched, so give it a chance.
Prayer: Father, thank you for showing me the power of true love. Revive the flame of true love in me and make me a model to my generation in jesus name ……
Amen !!!
