I Can Sacrifice My Life For Nigeria – Obasanjo

The former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has expressed readiness to sacrifice his life, if need be, to defend the integrity of the country.

He made the submission yesterday, while receiving the presidential candidate of the National Conscience Party (NCP), Martin Onovo at his Hilltop residence in Abeokuta.
The former president said he, however, cannot die for any party. He told the delegation that he remained a card carrying member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) because that is the party on which platform he served as president of the country.
Obasanjo lauded the role played by the founder of NCP, late Chief Gani Fawehinmi while alive, stressing that he was a genuine critic and man of integrity.
He said Nigeria belongs to all of us in the country, adding that some people cannot keep quiet when things are not done properly.

“There should be people looking at things critically who should speak up when the time arises. Nigeria belongs to all of us.”
“We are all stakeholders. But let me make it clear that I am a card carrying member of PDP. That is the party that gave me opportunity to preside over this country.”
“I put Nigeria first. It means I can sacrifice my life for Nigeria. But I cannot sacrifice my life for a political party.”

“Gani Fawehinmi was a genuine social critic. You may not agree with all he said or his method of saying it, but he was definitely a genuine social critic. You should uphold his integrity as the flag bearer of the party he founded.”

Baba !!!! I believe you
